"I stand at the Frauenkirche and see treadmills installed on footpaths to move faster. Arriving at the train station, I see autonomous trains with solar cells on them to provide power. On site, I can rent a transport drone that will transport me up to 150 km. The underground tunnels are still used for train traffic and also for sending parcels and letters that arrive within a few hours, as the underground system has been equipped with magnetic levitation trains. From the station, I can order an autonomous bus that arrives in a few minutes."
Future of Mobility - Sandbox Gaming at the IAA Mobility 2021
Go to IAA Mobility 2021 Messe München GmbH, PricewaterhouseCoopers GmbH (PwC) and and Force of Disruption GmbH have set up the possibility of using Sandbox Gaming and the energetic support of Sandbox Gamers to think about and implement change in the mobility revolution in games. In the run-up to IAA Mobility, the project "Future of Mobility - Sandbox Gaming" project was launched. The theme of the competition: the future of mobility in the city of Munich. The idea: people of all ages can design and develop their own vision of the future, their idea of the mobility of the future, and then also build it in-game. The young, gaming-savvy generation in particular can thus be sensitised to mobility, sustainability and politics in a playful way in order to strengthen the exchange with in society about these topics. On this platform, there is no right or wrong - every idea and every concept has a chance to be seen and experienced.
What is Sandbox Gaming anyway?
The special thing about these virtual sandbox gaming worlds, also called metaverse, is that people have the opportunity to experience new worlds and ideas immersively. The user can move around in the sandbox games, try something out and thus have "real" experiences in another world - for example, urban development concepts, transport systems, utopias of coexistence or even concerts can be made completely new, but real, genuine and approachable, in which the user slips into the role of the avatar (representative in another world).
Sandbox Gaming - what is it anyway? Sandbox gaming is a genre in the computer game sector in which one can give free rein to one's creativity. The player not only has the opportunity to experience adventures or challenges in prefabricated rooms, but can also build transport structures, huge buildings, entire cities or simply the house of his or her dreams. The decisive advantage of sandbox games compared to pure modelling software is their gamified nature and the associated accessibility for all generations. Game titles such as Minecraft, Roblox or Transport Fever are just a few of the many titles that belong to the genre of sandbox gaming.
One of the first sandbox games is "Garry's Mod". It sold over ten million copies, but is not the most successful. Minecraft, on the other hand, has sold over 238 million copies and has over 140 million active monthly players.

The teams were praised in high tones.
In addition to the award ceremony, four gaming computers were installed in the Sustainability Lounge in Hall B3 at the Munich exhibition centre.
